Here we have a 7 1/4" Gauge Romulus. This one isn't going to win any beauty contests, having been painted by a blind man using a wriggling badger as a brush,....(apologies if it was you!). We aren't quite sure how, but they've managed to get gravity defying runs going both up and down at the same time, achieved a layer thickness that would make the earths crust look flimsy,..... and the black paint on the chimney makes it look like the casting has been attacked with a course file! That all said, underneath it is a fairly standard, and serviceable Romulus. I suspect even the least fussy among you would want to soothe it with sand paper, if not paint stripper to start again,.... although there's nothing mechanically in the way of it being pressed into service tomorrow!
It's definitely been a well used loco, the steel boiler (boiler treatment religiously used) having received a re-tube a few years ago, and the bearings and bushes showing the usual wear and tear you might expect to find on a regular club performer.
The current boiler cert has just expired, but we can of course supply the engine with a full new hydraulic and steam certificate to get you steaming straight away.
